FernRidge Olive Oils

FernRidge Olives is one of the oldest in the Wairarapa, with the first plantings going in, in 1994. The grove is situated on the west side of Masterton on old river bed. The alluvial stones of the hot Wairarapa summers allows for extended growth and flavour.

The strength of the New Zealand ultra-violet light and the long hot summers of the Wairarapa gives the FernRidge oil a uniquely intense taste of buttery smoothness, a hint of grass and a distinct peppery after-taste: all signs of a very high-quality oil.

Richard and Ingrid Brooks spent five labour-intensive years establishing their 4-hectare block and now have a grove of mainly Tuscan trees (Leccino, Frantoio, Pendilino) which are ideally suited to the climate and terrain. The trials and tribulations of being amongst the first to grow olives are now (thankfully) well behind them!

You'll find us and our oil at the Farmers Market every Saturday. We also welcome enquiries for further sampling.
