Katz Gallery

It is a venue to exhibit the work of artists who find it difficult being accepted by mainstream galleries even though the work is of high quality. Usually the reasons given are that they are students, unknown artists or they work in mediums other than oils, acrylics and watercolour.

Printmaking, photography, sculpture, graphic/digital art and design, glass, jewellery, ceramics, etc. will all be considered for the gallery, the only criteria being that all work must be of high quality, well finished and presented.

The gallery will support the artists of the MainArtery Art Trail and promote the use of pastels and the art of drawing.

Masterton artist and the woman behind Katz's Gallery, Carol Banner has put together a great exhibition with a collection of eclectic work by various artists. Carol's own work is the real star of the show though you have to look a little closer to find the cat connection. Her intricate drawings are visual magnets that keep the viewer occupied engaging in the convoluted detail.

Her drawing is strongly reminescent of the master illusionist MC Escher.
