Kuranui College
We believe students learn in a climate which is both challenging and secure. Learning develops the whole person and requires active participation by students, staff and parents.
Individuals are encouraged to reach their full potential academically, socially, culturally and physically.
We believe our school offers every chance for this to happen.
Kuranui College students are friendly, open, fair and caring. The staff, who have a wide range of experience and expertise, work well with and for the students.
Students are encouraged to develop towards their full potential. Many of our students achieve considerable success in academic, sporting, and cultural areas. They are supported in their endeavours by community and parent goodwill.
The curriculum is broadly-based offering many choices to students – including academic, skill based and vocational courses as well as subjects that reflect the rural nature of our community. This includes the Tertiary Education Commission funded
Gateway programme which allows students to spend one or two days a week in a particular work place.
Students and parents are encouraged to set high goals which in turn will enhance career opportunities.
Pastoral care, a high priority at Kuranui, builds self-esteem and enables students to take full advantage of opportunities on offer.
Student participation in our many and varied extra-curricular activities is very high. This enables students to mix socially across all levels and to build strong communication links with other students and with staff.
We are proud of our extensive facilities; the recently completed performing arts centre (including a dance studio, a drama studio, a large performance auditorium and a large music centre), the Computer Suites, the Technology Block, the Student Centre and the Gymnasium, and of the continuing education we are able to offer adults in the South Wairarapa community.
