LOT EIGHT Olive Grove is located in Martinborough, New Zealand, a region internationally renowned for its, pure, clean, green image and its superior wines.
The history of LOT EIGHT starts in 1997, when during a weekend visit we fell in love with the region and with the newly planted Martinborough Olive Grove. Colin, a remuneration consultant with deep rooted South Island farming ethics, and Nalini, a Barrister with many years of sales and marketing experience, set out to achieve a long held dream of growing quality olives and producing premium extra virgin olive oils.
Martinborough Olive Grove is an olive village containing 11 groves, 11 passionate growers and a combined total of some 5,000 olive trees. Over the years LOT EIGHT has put its efforts together with fellow growers to benefit from collective grove management, olive picking and pressing. It makes our harvest time a happy co-operative project, all eager to see the final result – great oils with great yields. We are extremely committed to LOT EIGHT. We have owned and operated LOT EIGHT from its beginnings as a newly planted grove to a consistently successful New Zealand award winning extra virgin olive oil producer.
LOT EIGHT is a continually evolving realisation of our dreams and philosophies - we know our trees, our land, the climate of Martinborough and the oils we produce. This experience gives us the knowledge of what works and what doesn’t. Part of that knowledge has allowed us to replace trees to accommodate our favourites; varieties like our award winning Koroneiki and Leccino. While we are not an organic grove, we do adhere to our own standards of minimal intervention. Our oils are additive and preservative free and our company is 100% New Zealand owned and operated.
