The French Village

The Lodge at The French Village is an ideal retreat for families or groups seeking rustic accommodation with adventure on the doorstep, yet close to all the attractions of the beautiful Wairarapa region of New Zealand.

Situated on 400 acres 20 minutes from Carterton or Masterton in the foothills of the Tararua ranges, The Lodge will sleep up to 20 people in bunk-style accommodation.

The Lodge is fully furnished and has a fully-equipped kitchen with basic pantry provisions. Delicious organic meals are available on request and can be matched with local organic wines.

Both within and all around the property are exquisite forest walks with native birds to keep you company; pristine trout streams ideal for fishing, kayaking or swimming; and direct access to the Tararua National Park.

The lodge provides you with a comfortable and private wilderness experience without the intrusive sounds of traffic and television. You are instead nurtured by the murmur of river waters and native birds whilst relaxing in the unusual French-inspired village setting.

Visiting the wild Wairarapa coast, or touring the fine vineyards of Martinborough - or both! - is a comfortable day's outing from the Lodge.

Also available at The French Village is tuition in both Pilates and Yoga. Susie is an experienced tutor and is available for private sessions or weekend workshops at The Lodge.
